Audio-Technica Introduces the AT-LPA2 Turntable — Where Pure Sound Meets Transparent Design

Audio-Technica presents the AT-LPA2, a belt-drive turntable that combines clear analog sound with minimalist aesthetics. Constructed from high-density transparent acrylic, the chassis and platter reflect a modern design approach while continuing the brand’s dedication to audio quality. The AT-LPA2 is designed for vinyl listeners who appreciate both refined sound reproduction and a visually distinctive setup.

Balancing Transparency and Acoustic Performance

The AT-LPA2 features a transparent acrylic chassis approximately 30 mm thick, along with a 20 mm thick platter. This dense material enhances structural stability while effectively minimizing unwanted mechanical vibrations that could affect sound quality. Its sleek, transparent design allows the AT-LPA2 to blend seamlessly with a variety of interior styles, making it a centerpiece in both sound and appearance.

External Power Supply and Control Unit

To reduce electrical interference and preserve signal purity, the AT-LPA2 features a separate power supply and control unit. This design isolates the turntable from potential sources of electrical noise, contributing to clearer and more stable audio playback.

The control unit supports both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM speeds, offering compatibility with a wide range of vinyl records and musical styles.

Equipped with the AT-OC9XEN MC Cartridge

The AT-LPA2 comes pre-installed with the AT-OC9XEN moving coil cartridge, mounted on a precision-machined aluminium headshell. Designed for detailed and accurate audio reproduction, the cartridge features a 0.3 × 0.7 mil nude elliptical stylus and high-purity PCOCC wiring to ensure reliable signal transmission. Its construction and materials support good channel separation and clear, well-defined sound.
Note: Due to its low output level, the AT-OC9XEN is recommended for use with a step-up transformer or a moving coil phono preamp to boost the signal.

Custom Headshell

The cartridge is mounted on a dedicated aluminium headshell, specifically designed for the AT-LPA2 to provide mechanical stability and support optimal sound performance.

Carbon-Fiber Tonearm for Precise Tracking

The carbon-fiber tonearm combines high rigidity with low mass, enabling precise tracking of the record grooves. An optical sensor beneath the platter continuously monitors rotational speed and works with the control unit to adjust the DC motor output in real time, ensuring stable speed and clear playback.

Adjustable String-Type Anti-Skate Mechanism

The AT-LPA2 features a finely adjustable, string-type anti-skate mechanism that counteracts inward tracking force and helps maintain proper channel balance. This contributes to improved tracking accuracy and enhanced playback stability.

Two Counterweights for Cartridge Compatibility

The AT-LPA2 includes two interchangeable counterweights (110 g and 130 g), allowing users to optimize tonearm balance for different cartridge types. The lighter 110 g counterweight is recommended when using the included AT-OC9XEN cartridge.

Large-Diameter Aluminum Insulators

The AT-LPA2 is supported by large-diameter aluminum insulators with built-in damping structures. These high-rigidity, height-adjustable feet are specially designed to absorb external vibrations and minimize acoustic feedback, enhancing overall playback stability and audio clarity.

The included accessories are a dual RCA (male-to-male) stereo cable, a ground wire, a 45 RPM adapter, a removable hinged dust cover, a hex wrench (for adjusting the tonearm height), and a pair of white inspection gloves (to prevent fingerprints during setup).
